Two animal-cruelty cases: One very disturbing and one featuring a hero

Two news stories concerning cases of animal cruelty just flashed into the Pack News Wire. One involves a 9-year-old charged with killing one dog and injuring another. The other story features a brave woman who placed the perpetrator under citizen’s arrest.

The 9-year-old lives in Warsaw, NY, where police investigated a report of a dead dog last November. They were back at the home this month.

According to a story on WHEC.com, a witness saw the boy “choking the dog and then slamming the dog on it’s leash against a house.”

In cases such as this, it is incredibly important the child involved receives treatment (and punishment) – and that in the meantime the individual is not allowed to be around animals.

In Manteca, Calif, a woman witnessed a man throw a chihuahua mix out of his car window and onto the street. She followed the man into a local DMV office parking lot before placing him under citizen’s arrest and calling the police.

It’s a somewhat dangerous move on her part – the citizen’s arrest anyway. But I’ve got to applaud this woman – with a standing ovation nonetheless. Fortunately, the dog is okay.

I still believe most people are basically good people. But too many mean and nasty individuals are among us. And something needs to be done to make sure the mean and nasty don’t get to come into contact with the innocent.

  1. I like your comment.

“…too many mean and nasty individuals are among us. And something needs to be done to make sure the mean and nasty don’t get to come into contact with the innocent.”

Super standing O to the brave (albeit risky) soul who placed the dog-tosser under citizens’ arrest.
