Former shelter dogs trained for search and rescue

With this one video report from CNN, we can officially toss in the trash can two myths about dogs –
A) – If you want to train your dog, you have to buy puppy.
B) – You don’t know what you’re getting with a shelter dog.

This organization trains shelter dogs for search and rescue. These formerly homeless dogs are heroes.

So say it with me: “Rescue pets are the greatest.”

  1. Other examples of well-trained rescued pets include any number of dogs, cats, and others who perform on television and in movies. For example, Hagrid’s dog Fang in the Harry Potter movies is played by a mastiff adopted from a shelter. And it might be worth noting that since dogs don’t keep behaving like they did as puppies, if anything you probably have a better idea what you’re getting when you rescue an adult dog, not that there’s anything wrong with adopting a puppy!
